i nerf because . . .
i make friends
We enter a Planet Mynd Blaster Battle as players. During rounds of distance tag, we play as teammates. Then, in between rounds, something happens. We strike up conversations. We answer questions about our equipment. We become more curious as we talk. More questions are asked. Names are exchanged. We return to the play field.
When the play is done, the darts are picked up, and the gear is stowed, we wave goodbye to one another. Not as players. As friends.
i belong

i feel good
Our human brains developed their complex reasoning and problem-solving abilities as our bodies adapted to move in more complex ways. In other words, the human brain, with its ability to regulate feelings, crunch data, and make sense of the world, operates best when we keep ourselves moving.
Planet Mynd blaster battles are fully immersive, in-person experiences. After rounds of constant movement, you will feel less stressed, more present, and usually giddy with joy.
Learn how one Blaster Battle grew into a six-month Violence Prevention Program.
The 2025 Planet Mynd Impact Report details how a series of monthly nerf play events at the Everett Mall brought together hundreds of people for regular physical play over the winter.
It also presents the surprising benefits from nerf play, including:
- The program operated as an important source of social connection to those excluded from other physical activities, such as organized sports.
- Creating a space for 3 generations of people to physically play games together creates a virtuous circle of positive, self-reinforcing behavior.
